the last time we met there was an election. there is a lot to be thankful for in the outcomes of the election at the national state and local level. also on two local measurs. prop b, 195 million dollar general obligation bond measure earmarked to provide renovations and improvements to our city parks. one of the reasons why that is so important to us here in the council and also to the mdc, these renovations advance access in the facilities. this is the way that we get to renovate recreation centers and playgrounds and bathrooms and trails. it was important for our transition plan work to have this funding source. that was a successful outcome. one of the benefit of the bond measure is that these improvements that have been taken place, different recreation centers, it was more accessible disaster shelters. these rec centers are on the list of available shelter site. back in 2005 we first started the survey, a lot of them were not renovated and are not successful. as would go back one by one was added to the list. that has hel

of opponents of this bond entered this election with a goal of creating a debate. a real debate about the real condition of the parks and how we need to increase the general funding for maintenance and operations. we expected to look at for another bond within the next couple of years. giving us time to secure some sort of funding resource in order to manage, maintain and staff park facilities that are closed. educated voters in san francisco want to show a leadership that we can reward leadership for good public policy that rewards and supports a department. if paid for by taxes, not -- at the expense of public service. looking to going forward to building a infrastructure of deeply committed incidents to support the department and redirect management policies back to its core purpose of stewarding resources and providing access to all parks versus select few. this is just a beginning for us. we are dedicated. we will see this through and not going anywhere. we have a primary goal. the hard work on looking at the prize in the end to give a real voice to citizens o
